Terms of Service
These terms cover what GitHours does, what it does not promise, and where responsibility sits. The short version of the clause that matters: the hours GitHours calculates are estimates derived from commit timestamps, and reviewing them before you bill a client is your call to make.

1. Scope and provider
These terms govern your use of GitHours, operated by githours.dev ("we", "us") and reachable at [email protected]. By creating an account you accept them.
They apply in place of any terms you may seek to impose. Individually negotiated agreements take precedence over this text.
2. What the service does
GitHours reconstructs development time from a repository’s commit history and produces reports you can export or share. It does so by measuring intervals between commits and grouping them into working sessions using a configurable gap threshold.
The service is provided as it stands. Features may be added, changed or withdrawn.
3. The figures are estimates, and you are responsible for what you bill
This is the most important clause in this document. GitHours derives time from commit timestamps. It cannot observe work that produced no commit, it cannot distinguish focused work from an interrupted session, and its accuracy depends on your commit habits. The documented methodology and its assumptions are published at /docs and /accuracy; read them before relying on the output.
Every figure the service produces is an estimate, not a measurement, and not a record of hours worked. You are solely responsible for reviewing any report before you send it to a client, for the invoices you raise from it, and for any representation you make about hours. We give no warranty that a figure is accurate, complete or fit for billing, and accept no liability for a billing dispute, a rejected invoice or any other consequence of relying on one.
4. Your account
You must supply a valid email address and keep your credentials confidential. You are responsible for everything done through your account. Accounts are for the registered user; do not share credentials. Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you believe your account has been compromised.
5. Acceptable use
You may only connect a repository you own or are authorised to analyse. Submitting someone else’s repository without authorisation is a breach of these terms, and you are responsible for the lawfulness of every repository you submit and of processing its contributors’ data.
- Do not use the service to infringe intellectual property or privacy rights.
- Do not attempt to circumvent authentication, rate limits or access controls, or to reach another account’s projects.
- Do not use it to attack the infrastructure or any third party, including by pointing it at hosts it was not intended to reach.
- Do not resell or present the service as your own without a written agreement.
6. Availability
No uptime is promised and no service level is agreed. The service may be unavailable for maintenance, updates or reasons outside our control. Analyses of large repositories may fail or time out.
7. Liability
We are liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, and for injury to life, body or health.
For slight negligence we are liable only on breach of an essential contractual obligation, and only for foreseeable damage typical of this kind of contract. Liability is otherwise excluded.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law. This clause does not displace clause 3, which governs reliance on the figures the service produces.
8. Price and changes
The service is currently offered free of charge, and no payment method is collected. If paid plans are introduced, existing users will be told before any charge applies and will not be charged without separately agreeing to it.
We may change these terms. Material changes will be announced with a new last-updated date, and continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
9. Termination
You may stop using the service and request deletion of your account at any time; see the Privacy Policy for what deletion does. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and will give notice where it is reasonable to do so.
10. Severability
Mandatory consumer-protection rights under the law of your place of residence are unaffected by anything in these terms.
Should any provision be or become invalid, the remainder stays in force.
